We have a number of training events throughout the week suitable for differing ages and abilities.

Our main club training nights are Tuesday and Thursday. In addition we have Monday Intervals, Monday Juniors, a Friday morning run and sometimes informal sessions at the weekend. Everyone is welcomed, of any standard, but it is beneficial if you can already run a few miles.

Please sign up for our runs before turning up and always check our Facebook Page for last minute changes especially over holiday periods when the normal schedules may be disrupted but also in case the unforeseen interferes with our best laid plans.

Intervals takes place on a Monday evening at 7pm at the Leyland Vehicles parts car park near Centurion Way, Farington Moss, Leyland PR26 6RB. Please park on Croston Road or thereabouts, if you park on Leyland Vehicles car park you will be asked to move.

The session usually involves running shorted distances, e.g. 800 metres or less, at quicker paces with recovery time in-between.  It caters for different ability levels with different distances and number of repetitions.

We have a closed Facebook Group relating to Juniors. If you are a Parent or Guardian of an aspiring runner then please contact us through the Group to learn more. If you are not a Facebook user then please talk to any committee member or use the Contact form and we will get back to you.

From the start of October to the end of March a group meets at Fulwood Leisure Centre at 18:30 for a choice of road runs of between 6 and 8 miles. These sessions continue through the Summer for the benefit of those who cannot get to the Summer Country runs.

Please gather near the squash courts or near the steps outside the main entrance. Parking can sometimes be a problem at the leisure centre, but there is normally room on the surrounding side streets or on the Academy car park.

The SAGA group, originally named as it started as a slower more social run, now welcomes members to join them. It meets in the car park at Morrisons, Station Road, Bamber Bridge PR5 6TP each Tuesday at 7pm and runs around the local streets. You need be able to run 5 to 6 miles and the faster runners will loop to those that are slower to keep the group together. It retains a social feel and holds regular social evenings in the local bar!

From the start of April to the end of September we have runs in the country from various locations near Preston. Although most of these runs are at 18:30 there are exceptions depending on the time of year and venue. The venues are posted a day or so in advance on the Club’s Facebook Page. During the Summer months we may have members arranging informal runs from Fulwood Leisure Centre.

We encourage car sharing to the Summer Track and Trail events as there is often limited parking. Make certain you know where the meeting point is and how long it might take to get there given the nature of the evening traffic.

On the run it is essential that we respect the countryside. Pay attention to the run leader and be prepared to follow instructions especially when going through farm yards, near livestock and crops.

Although no one will admit to any of our runs being muddy, up hill or held in less than balmy weather, it is a good idea to bring a change of socks, shoes and other clothes so you are more presentable in the pub afterwards and more comfortable on the journey home.

On Thursdays we meet in the car park of The Poachers Pub (near Bamber Bridge Sainsbury’s) at 19:00. Please DO NOT park in the pub car park. Try to arrive a few minutes early as we aim to start the run on time. There are plenty of other options within a short walking distance.

There are several groups graded by distance and pace. The runs normally start out as a single group and split midway to provide longer and shorter options.  In addition we have a Tempo run which is normally faster paced and longer.

Routes normally go via Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Walton-le-Dale, Walton Summit and Lostock Hall. During the summer, when it is lighter, it is also possible to run through Avenham and Cuerden Parks.

Runners sometimes gather in The Poachers after the run for a drink and something to eat.

We have a daytime run every Friday at 10:00 am. It’s a friendly, social group that runs. There is regular regrouping to keep the group together but there is an expectation of being able to run at least 5k. We meet at the car park in South Meadow Lane, opposite The Continental PR1 8JP. Check Facebook for where the group are meeting each week in case of any changes. The runs will last about one hour with an opportunity for a coffee and chat in the car park afterwards. Bring a mug.
