As you will have noticed, Red Rose are starting a blog section on the website. We have decided to do this for a few reasons. First, we haven’t had a newsletter for a long time and it’s about time that we had some way of communicating apart from facebook. We also want to have a forum for our members to contribute their own experiences for the rest of the club but most importantly there is absolutely nothing on TV and as I’m getting older, there is only so much time I can spend out running so writing about it is going to be a poor substitute.
Of course the newsletters used to perform that function but as we are in the 21st century, hey, let’s tweak the nose of terror and try something new. So the blog will be the replacement.
The success of the blog will depend on the club members being prepared to contribute their own stories so here is what I want you to do.

If you have done a race or running event, send me a few words on it. Tell me what you enjoyed, what you didn’t think was much good. How did you feel about it, how did you prepare, would you do it again and was it raining (I know, it’s always raining, tell me anyway).
If any junior members want to send anything in that would be ideal as well. I’ll always post the name of the writer along with the blog name.
If you’re particularly shy (I can’t believe that applies to anyone in the club but you never know), send me a suggestion for a post and I’ll try to put something together on your behalf.
I will be very strict about the topics for the posts. They must be about either: –
Red Rose
Something else
That should give you all a bit of scope.

Joe’s race reports will be in their usual place, the blog isn’t going to replace them at all. It isn’t about the results but more about your thoughts and opinions, although if you have a result that you are proud of, let us know.

I also want to know if you are doing anything for charity. Send it in and we’ll post it up. By all means post blogs to the charity sites, but send me a copy as well.

You’ll find a link to subscribe to email updates when something gets posted. If you get bored of them, you can always unsubscribe and then we’ll send you a load more emails until you give in and subscribe again. You may find our mail updates get put in your spam or junk folder. Please move them if they do, I’m a sensitive soul and I’ll be very upset if it all gets marked as junk.

You will be able to comment on any of the posts just like a proper blog. That’s what you get for joining the most hip hop happening running club in Preston.

I hope you enjoy reading some of this stuff and I hope even more that you will consider writing something.
Bear in mind that if every member contributes just one post a year then we will have something to read every single day. How good is that.

Send your contributions to I’ll get them on the website as soon as I can.

You’re the best
