At last week’s New Longton 10k, we had a great turnout and some excellent performances.

In 5th place, Phil Marsden ran 36.22 to take 1st V45 with Dave Parkinson 1st V50 in 37.58. Our next runners were James Darkin 41.45, Chris Bibby 41.57, Andrew Stell 44.06, Andrew Doublett 44.59, Pete Smith 46.42, Eddie Hamilton 47.48, Ed Trafford 51.53. Our first lady was the remarkable Carol Douglass, F70 winner in brilliant time of 53.33. Next were Paula Stell 53.57 and Joan Gouldthorpe 55.32 finishing as 1st V65. Other results were Denise Morris 56.52, Matthew Thorpe 59.01, Caroline Cocker 61.41,Sandra Rolston 63.46, Christine Rostron 65.05, Kelly Day 73.06, Alison Dick 73.25,Fiona Gutteridge 73.25, Sharon Arts 75.58, Steven Carson 87.11.

The Trimpell 20 went ahead on Sunday with 17 Red Rosers getting the hard miles in even though their marathons may be postponed. Our results show they were all in good shape and ready for the challenge. The Tiger Beetle 10k saw Ray Taylor comfortably take the V65 prize in 47.10. This time would have won him the V60 prize as well. Also in the first wave of runners were Lisa Bolton (50.32) Denis Morris (56.36) and Laura Walker (57.55). In the second wave, Janine Needham powered home in 8th place to take the F45 prize in 44.59 and Debbie Porter 56.36.

The Knowsley Safari 10k offers something different. Our magnificent seven were Katrin Elbag 57.22, Helen Murphy 62.05, Debbie Hall 62.56, Christine Walker 64.42, Julie Longdon 70.03, Suzanne Havercroft 73.47, Sandra Davies 79.46.

Susan Heatley took part in the Carlisle Half Marathon finishing in a very respectable 2.29.29.

Preston parkrun saw PB’s for Josie Swarbrick 29.02 and Sue Livesey 31.06. At Cuerden Valley, Sarah Clucas ran a new best of 32.19.

A group of club members had a tourist trip to Burnley where they were warmly welcomed and achieved these times: James Bretherton 21.27, David Eaves 22.49, Michael Oddie 25.39, Louise Withnell 29.54, Ian Miller 31.26, Michael Cleece 32.55, Lucas Park 34.19, David Park 34.23, Katy Cleece 52.35.
