A merry bunch of RRRRs took part in The Lancaster Christmas Cracker 10K, a festive scenic route along the River Lune and were blessed with perfect weather (after Saturday’s storm Deirdre). Some good results were achieved – Simon Croft won the race in 33.46 Stuart Smith was 10th in 42.03. Jill Jefferson was 3rd lady in 43.28. Vet prizes went to Kate Clipston 56.46, and Arthur Green 77.14. The men (Simon, Stu and Michael Oddie 45.27) took the team prize and the ladies (Jill, Sam Edwards, 46.26 and Natalie Moore, 49.25),won their team prize. Other results: Ben Smithers 46.26, Sandra Rolston 66.03, Gina Biggs 72.52.

Kelly White ran the Frosty Triple Half Marathon in Barrow In Furness. 13.1 miles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The inaugural “Wycoller Wander” off-road festive fun run took place from Aisled Barn in Wycoller running through Wycoller woodlands by the Atom panopticon on a 5-mile round. Red Rose was well represented and our runners, Alison Parkinson, Sue Tonge, Sue Austin, Jenny Fairclough, Maureen Laney and Catherine Latham were appreciated by Trawden Athletic Club who organised the run in aid of ‘Doing it for Laura.’

St Aidan’s School, Bamber Bridge thanked the Red Rosers who kindly gave up their time to help marshall their Santa Dash. The children had such a great time and everyone well deserved their medals.

Steve Bullows can’t stop doing half marathons, this weekend he ran ‘The Usual Suspects’ event on the Channel Coast and received another momentous medal to add to his collection.

The Forest of Bowland Half and Full Marathon took place in horrendous conditions which resulted in many marathon runners being forced to stop, on the orders of race officials, to ensure their safety. Red Rose supported this event in impressive numbers. Dan Hughes ran a superb time of 1.57.21 to win the half marathon with Simon Thompson well placed in 14th in 2.23.38 and Baz Bayliss in 30th place with 2:43:53. Nicola Hughes and Sarah Chippendale were our first women home in 2.40.15. Lynn Melvin broke the 3 hour mark with 2.50.16.

Steve Moon ran the 3-1-5, 5k in Lancaster in 20.59.
